Experience tells you what to do

untitled-1;

“Experience tells you what to do, confidence allows you to do it.”
Stan Smith, tennis player

One of the biggest parts of growth for me is gaining experience. Getting out there and trying something , anything that I may not have been that familiar with. Trying lots of things builds up your experiences and therefore gives one a better understanding of what it is your involved in. So by having the knowledge and experience of something it will truly guide you in what to do. I believe most of my ideas to take the next step in whatever project I am involved in comes from taking some first step. I think the biggest secret is what Stan Smith said, having the confidence and believing in yourself will allow you to do it. This is often what will stop us in our tracks. We don’t know what will happen. Well in this case I will tell you exactly what my dear old dad told me one day. I remember it vividly. I was about 18 years old sitting on the couch in my parents living room worrying about what will happen if i ask the shopping mall management for something I wanted as I was drawing caricatures during the christmas season and “WHAT IF” they said NO. So my my father said what’s the worst that can happen, what are you afraid of the most. Well, I said, I don’t want to drown and being stabbed wouldn’t be that good either. So he said, well are they going to drown you or stab you, and I replied no. So the worst think that could happen is that they say NO. And he was right. from that point on I would always have the confidence to just do it and try it.

belief in a thing makes it happen.

Monday, May 17th, 2010

The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen.
_Frank Lloyd Wright, architect

One of my favorite things to do is watch the Biography channel, History channel or any show with great interviews such as Oprah. I have recently become addicted to a show called “How’d you get so rich” with joan rivers. Even American Idol is on the top of my list. My main purpose and reason for watching all these shows is because everybody has a story, one which we can always learn from, pick up bits and pieces and is always a constant reminder to me that the majority of these people, believed in what it is they set out to do. They had a vision, a passion a dream and they made it a reality. I choose not to sit and watch and just say they are so lucky, why couldn’t that be me. I understand they have all had to work hard and follow their belief. I don’t believe in the word luck, I believe in the word persistence and through that opportunities will arise. Watching these stories weekly reminds me that we all have the ability to accomplish what we want as long as we are passionate about it and not being forced to do it.

The Hundredth time I am right.

I think and think for months and years. ninety nine times, the conclusion is false. The Hundredth time I am right.

Albert Einstein

Albert has it right, not everything you do think and say is going to be correct, at first, but like I teach my kids, with practice and effort you will eventually get it right. Hearing lots of people discussing the same issue on my Artcast as far as them sending out many resumes and their portfolios and not getting a response, I believe, as long as you persist and keep planning and thinking you are bound to hit. It may take months it may take years but the true lesson is never give up.
Live artcast tomorrow night Tuesday 7pm PST time zone.

What seems to work

pin-up
I’ve talked about this topic many times but i think it is an important one. It is one that challenges us everyday of our lives so I feel it is worth mentioning again.
THINGS HAPPEN! We are challenged on a daily basis with some form of obstacle that may not go the way we wanted or expected. Well, I am here to say it is perfectly normal. It happens all the time to everyone so you are not alone. The solution I have found is to simply accept the fact that this will happen and the best thing to do is to think about all the other things that are going right, I guarantee it will outweigh the slight hiccup that may have occurred. It is a mindset and a habit which through daily practice will help keep your mind at ease. Start today by writing down just ten positives in your life. It may be a s basic as my eyes opened this morning and my feet touched the ground, often something taken for granted, but is a positive.

Make it a great week.

Get rid of your Frustration!

“The only time we suffer is when we believe a thought that argues with what is.
All the stress that we feel is caused by arguing with what is”
Byron Katie

I wanted to share a brief story of Non-Resistence which I feel is essential to one’s sanity. When you resist the fact of what is actually happening in your life or your situation, it will result in Anger, frustration, anxiety and so on.
This morning we all woke up at around 8:10am the exact time I am usually loading my kids in the car. School starts at 8:30am. I could of woken up in a panic, started scrambling, rushing, yelling at the kids to hurry up, build up my heart rate for the result that was inevitable, WE WERE GOING TO BE LATE ANYWAY. Instead I chose to not resist what was and accept the fact we overslept and we are now late. SO WHAT!, It’s not the end of the world. So the result was, we all got up, my wife got the kids dressed, I made their lunch and we all sat at the table and ate breakfast in a calm fun manner and went of to school, no madness, no frustration. So whatever you may be dealing with this week, and something you don’t favor is actually happening, try not to resist it and accept it and you will find an inner peace that will make it all better.

Take a shot

“You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.”
Wayne Gretzky.

Every day I think about and get inspired about life, new adventures, new journeys, new goals. It is through this that I often come upon great quotes such as this one that inspires me and makes me say to myself, how true. You always have to try something, even if it is small, As a father I find myself repeatedly saying to my son when he eats, the same words my mother always said to me “unless you try it, you won’t know if you like it” Through that taste test adventure,I came to love eating many things Shepards pie being one of them.
My son still is hesitant, but it is the same concept through life. Try something new even though you have never done it, see where it can take you, let it be an adventure, a learning tool so that you know weather it was right or wrong. Because like Wayne Gretzky said. “You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take”.

Have a great week.

THANKFUL FOR

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

10Not sure who wrote this, but I thought it was great!

I am
thankful for…
….the mess to clean up
after a party
because it
means I have been surrounded by friends.
….the taxes
I pay
because it
means that I’m employed.
….the
clothes that fit a little too snug
because it
means I have enough to eat.
….the child
who is not cleaning his room, but is watching TV
because that
means he is at home and not on the streets.
….the spot
I find at the far end of the parking lot
because it
means I am capable of walking.
….all the
complaining I hear about our government
because it
means we have freedom of speech.
….that lady
behind me in synagogue who sings off key
because it
means that I can hear.
….lawn that
needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing
because it
means I have a home.
….my huge
heating bill
because it
means that I am warm.
….weariness
and aching muscles at the end of the day
because it means
that I have been productive.
….the alarm
that goes off in the early morning hours
because it
means that I am alive.
….Finally,
for too much email
because it
means that I have friends and family who are thinking of me.

Opportunity

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

8“Do not wait for an opportunity to be all that you want to be; when an opportunity to be more than you are now is presented and you feel impelled toward it, take it. It will be the first step toward a greater opportunity.”
“Wallace D. Wattles”

This quote by Wallace D. Wattles opens up clear insight to the importance of keeping your eyes and ears open. There is no sense in sitting around expecting great things to happen, they will not come, only through your own efforts will better opportunities present themselves. And as he stated, the next job may not be the best, but if it seems one step better than the place in your in right now, that is one step closer to the opportunity you really want to make happen for yourself.
Make it a great week.

Talent

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

6Everybody has talent; it’s just a matter of moving around until you’ve discovered what it is.
George Lucas

This quote has a lot of truth to it. This is all about experimentation, trying new things, discovering your talent. What do you excel at and most importantly what is it you like to do the most. I have tried many different art career paths and it was only through that exploration of being uncertain, did I truly discover what it was I liked to do.
I do not believe that talent can be forced, I feel it is already within and through exploration it will come out. join me Tuesday nights 7pm pst on my live Artcast by Silver.

DARE!

“All glory comes from daring to begin”
William Shakespeare

It is a simple message, yet a profound one. I wanted to put out a challenge to you this week. Dare to do something that you have been wanting to do, get it started. It could be joining that gym, making that phone call or starting that book or project you have been putting off. If you like, please share what you did. Make it happen!
Have a great week!
