belief in a thing makes it happen.

Monday, May 17th, 2010

The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen.
_Frank Lloyd Wright, architect

One of my favorite things to do is watch the Biography channel, History channel or any show with great interviews such as Oprah. I have recently become addicted to a show called “How’d you get so rich” with joan rivers. Even American Idol is on the top of my list. My main purpose and reason for watching all these shows is because everybody has a story, one which we can always learn from, pick up bits and pieces and is always a constant reminder to me that the majority of these people, believed in what it is they set out to do. They had a vision, a passion a dream and they made it a reality. I choose not to sit and watch and just say they are so lucky, why couldn’t that be me. I understand they have all had to work hard and follow their belief. I don’t believe in the word luck, I believe in the word persistence and through that opportunities will arise. Watching these stories weekly reminds me that we all have the ability to accomplish what we want as long as we are passionate about it and not being forced to do it.
Make it a great week and be sure to take a peek at my little greeting card line7. Just trying something new. http://www.zazzle.com/stephensilver

THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS!

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Yesterday morning I found myself thourally entertained as I was watching an infomercial. I couldn’t break myself away from it and thought to myself, who watches these things, me, who believes these things, defiantly not me. The one I was watching was called Jeff Paul’s Shortcut to Internet Millions. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. The guy must have spent a fortune putting this hoax together. What I have come to learn throughout my career and what I have learned from reading about   other people and watching their biographies is, THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS.

In order to be successful at anything, drawing, painting, sports, cooking, acting, you name it, it simply takes time, effort and determination. I have had many young artists come to me and ask, “how do I get better?” I tell them to draw a lot, explore and practice. I often get blank stares and the next question, “well, what’s the secret to drawing better?”  The answer is the same, draw a lot, explore and practice, there are no short cuts. In life, if you enjoy what it is you are doing, you will excel. Your passion is what will drive you to succeed in whatever it is you wish to do and simply remember…….untitled-3

My new book, “Passion for Life,” is now available and shipping. I will also be exhibiting at the San Diego Comic-Con, booth H-06 at the end of isle 1000. Please stop by and say hello if you are attending. Also, as a reminder, if you or anyone you know wishes to learn all about Self-Publishing, I am conducting a three hour seminar with an industry printer on August 12th, more info here: http://www.facebook.com/l/;http://www.bit.ly/83mh5
